My Hay Fever Lifesaver? Testing the Lifemax Rechargeable Allergy Reliever
Spring is finally here and summer is just around the corner. Picnics in the park, BBQs in the garden, days at the beach… it’s easily my favourite time of year.
Unfortunately, it also marks the start of something else for many of us — hay fever season.
Around a quarter of the UK population suffers with hay fever, and I’m definitely one of them. In fact, I’ve been dealing with it for nearly 20 years. Every April it arrives like clockwork.
For me it usually starts with sinus pressure and headaches, then comes the itchy nose and throat, followed by watery eyes and that horrible exhausted feeling that makes you want to crawl back into bed.
Not exactly the vibe you want when the sun is shining.
The Usual Hay Fever Advice…
If you’ve ever looked up how to reduce hay fever symptoms, you’ll probably know the list:
- Keep windows and doors closed
- Don’t dry washing outside
- Wear wraparound sunglasses
- Wear a wide brim hat
- Even wear a mask

Basically… avoid everything that makes spring and summer enjoyable!
For years I relied on daily antihistamine tablets, but they’re not perfect. They can be expensive, they sometimes leave me feeling drowsy, and I’d read that your body can build up a tolerance over time.
So when the Rechargeable Hay Fever & Allergy Reliever from Lifemax landed in our range, I was genuinely curious to see if it could make a difference.

What’s in the Box?
The device comes with:
- The Allergy Reliever
- A USB charging cable
- A user manual
It also arrives in a really handy protective case, which I loved straight away. The device itself is small, lightweight and very portable, so it’s easy to pop into a bag.
First Time Using It
I started by charging the device using the USB cable, which took about an hour while I grabbed some lunch.
Once charged, I adjusted the nose probes using the two buttons on the side so they fitted comfortably. Then I placed them in my nostrils and pressed the power button.
Immediately the device started its red light therapy treatment… which also made my nose glow bright red.
Honestly, I looked a bit like Rudolph on Christmas Eve.
The treatment lasts just three minutes, and when it finishes the device gives a small beep and switches itself off.
It couldn’t really be simpler — no complicated setup, no apps, no fiddly controls.
The probes were comfortable too, which I was slightly worried about beforehand.
The only downside? It’s not the most discreet device if you’re sitting in an open-plan office! But since the treatment only lasts three minutes, you can easily step away somewhere private if needed.

My Results After 3 Weeks
I’ve now been using the device for around three weeks, doing two treatments a day — one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
And the biggest surprise?
I haven’t taken antihistamines for the last two weeks.
Even better, I actually feel really good. My usual symptoms have been noticeably reduced and I haven’t had the usual tired, foggy feeling that antihistamines sometimes give me.
How Does It Work?
I won’t pretend to understand all the science, but here’s the simple version.
The device uses red light therapy at wavelengths of 660nm and 940nm which penetrate the lining of the nose. Research suggests these wavelengths can help reduce inflammation and calm allergic reactions.
With repeated use, the treatment can also have a cumulative effect, meaning your body may gradually build up more resistance to hay fever symptoms.

My Honest Opinion
I’ll be honest — I went into this expecting it to be a bit of a gimmick.
But after using it consistently for a few weeks, I’m genuinely impressed.
The Rechargeable Hay Fever & Allergy Reliever has been a bit of a game changer for me. Being able to manage my symptoms without relying on daily antihistamines has been a huge bonus.
The instructions were simple and easy to follow, although one of the images made it slightly unclear whether the nose probes were removable. They are removable, but they’re a little tricky to take off the first time.
In reality, you’d probably only need to remove them if multiple people were sharing the device. I’ve just been giving them a quick wipe after each use.
Overall, if you struggle with hay fever and want to try a drug-free way to manage your symptoms, this clever little device is definitely worth looking into.
